Course Purpose:
This course is designed to support individuals who speak English and those learning the language in preparing for U.S. citizenship. The course aims to build knowledge of U.S. history, government, geography, culture, and citizenship procedures while enhancing English language skills necessary for the citizenship process.
Course Goals:

Develop an understanding of U.S. history, government, and civics relevant to citizenship.

Familiarize students with American culture, customs, and social norms.

Provide practical guidance for completing the U.S. citizenship application process.

Improve English communication skills, particularly for oral interviews and written materials related to citizenship.

Become a U.S. Citizen.
Performance Objectives:
By the end of the course, students will be able to:

Demonstrate knowledge of key events, figures, and principles in U.S. history.

Explain the structure and functions of the U.S. government at federal, state, and local levels.

Apply understanding of U.S. geography to answer basic civics questions.

Navigate the U.S. citizenship application process, including filling out forms accurately.

Conduct an oral interview in English with confidence, responding clearly to common questions. Practice and prepare questions and interview process.

Understand and follow the policies and procedures for becoming a U.S. citizen.
