Course Description:
Adult Basic Education (ABE) English Language Arts is a college and career preparatory course designed for English-speaking adults who wish to strengthen their foundational language skills. The course emphasizes communication, collaboration, creativity, critical thinking, and computer literacy. Students will engage in daily writing exercises, group projects, and presentations to develop confidence and proficiency in reading, writing, and oral communication.
Purpose of the Course:
To prepare adult learners for success in higher education, workforce environments, and civic participation by improving writing, reading, and communication skills.

Course Description:
ABE Mathematics is a non-credit course that develops literacy and mathematical skills necessary for success in work, family, and civic life. The course prepares students for GED preparation, Adult High School programs, and/or ESL instruction while providing support for co-enrollment in community college courses.
Purpose of the Course:
To increase mathematical understanding, reasoning, and confidence in adults, enabling them to solve practical problems and pursue higher education or workforce readiness.

Course Title: HiSET Preparation Program
Course Description:
The HiSET Preparation Program is a free, adult education course designed to help students successfully pass the High School Equivalency Test (HiSET) exams in five key subject areas: Language Arts – Reading, Language Arts – Writing, Mathematics, Science, and Social Studies. This program provides a combination of online and in-person instruction, including instructional videos, practice lessons, workshops, and individualized support from experienced teachers. Students will receive guidance in test-taking strategies, critical thinking, and content mastery to build confidence and achieve their high school equivalency credential.
Through the HiSET curriculum, students can study at their own pace anytime, while on-campus sessions provide group instruction, academic support, and practice tests. HiSET books and study materials are provided at no cost. Students are expected to dedicate a minimum of 6 hours per week to on-campus study and practice to maximize their success. Avid tutors are also available to do one on one tutoring for test preparation.
